The Hottest Seat in the House
Home office furniture bores me. So needless to say my home office is the one room in my house I never pay any decorating heed. But while shopping for furniture recently, this striking steno chair caught my eye. It's solid yet sassy and stylish—the kind of chair I picture Rosalind Russell's character in His Girl Friday sitting in while she taps away at a typewriter. It's sure to give any office a little oomph—just how much is in your hands. Twenty Gauge painstakingly restores vintage steel chairs it finds in old government offices (places like NASA and army bases). The rest of the design is up to you. You can select one of the many fabrics the company offers or provide them with your own stylish, eco-friendly option. Even the color of the steel frame can be customized. Sure you can go traditional and get it clear-coated, but I personally went ga-ga over some of the other offerings in Twenty Gauge's color palette—especially the pretty in pink. What could be less boring (and more sexy star reporter) than a pink office chair? Plus, the chair swivels and rolls, the height is adjustable, and you can tilt back and recline a little—I like to do that when I'm making important workday decisions, like what to have for lunch. Home office furniture bores me no more.
