Why It's Good:

An inexpensive alternative to decorating and building, The Loading Dock offers a wide and ever-expanding array of salvaged materials and furniture. Hardcore builders will delight at the tons of flooring, plumbing, hardware, lumber and more at budget-friendly prices. If your passion is decor, check out the large selection of windows, tiles, wallpaper, lighting, tubs, fireplaces and affordable appliances. This is a "Home Depot" for the economic (and environmentally savvy) consumer.

Why It's Green:

This non-profit is an important part of its community in Maryland. Its major goal is to improve living conditions in local neighborhoods by providing affordable alternatives for homes and building. It does this by salvaging surplus materials, which has a doubly positive effect on the environment—it prevents discards from filling our landfills!
