Conscientious Caviar:

Farm-raised sturgeon caviar is a great alternative to caviar from the Caspian Sea, where Beluga sturgeon have become so overfished for their eggs, they're on the verge of extinction. And unlike farmed salmon roe, cultivated sturgeon isn't raised in pens in open water, but in tanks on land, where waste can be more easily disposed of. — Slowfoodnation.org

The Perfect Accent to Any Room

In decorating my new-ish studio, I have to pack a lot of design personality into a small space. I want to do it right, so I'm taking it slow, piece by perfect piece. Last month's addition, twin '40s black end tables (curbside find!), looked smashing with my vintage zebra-print rug and cream loveseat. And so the living room was nearly complete—just begging for a crowning touch of color, à la famed American decorator Dorothy Draper. That's when I came across Superdeluxe's timelessly chic decoupage glassware by designers Karin Spraggs and Adrienne Wong. Brilliant peacock feathers, calligraphic swirls, and mythical beasts (I'm partial to the adorable Ming dragon) are silkscreened, then decoupaged and gilded onto glassware in a completely handmade process. Coordinated sets are available, but even one stunning piece—say, an hors d' oeuvres tray—can be just the finishing touch to make your dream room really sing. —Elizabeth McMullen
