Building Supplies Center

Why It's Good:

Recycled North's Building Materials Center has an expansive inventory of tubs, sinks, lighting fixtures, cabinets and vanities, as well as exterior pieces like doors, windows, lumber, and plywood. It also sells Waste Not products—adorable home decor pieces made totally from scrap building materials, like a barn-board birdhouse or a mirror made from window sashes. Its Household Goods Store is a wonderful community thrift store full of colorful and affordable items like furniture and appliances. Why buy new when you can buy used that's just as good and half the price? Recycled North also offers deconstruction and repair services at reasonable prices.

Why It's Green:

Recycle North is a non-profit that focuses on waste reduction and community improvement. The sale of salvaged and recycled goods helps the environment by reducing waste, the goods' affordability allows everyone to be part of the green movement, and all profits from the Home Goods Store goes directly to a job-skills training program for youth aged 16 - 24.
