The Great Diaper Debate:

Americans throw away 570 diapers per second, 49 million diapers per day, and spend upwards of $2,000 in diapers per child. What's more, these diapers will still be in landfills 300 years from now. Consider using, even for part of the time, reusable cloth or biodegradable diapers.

Molte Cose Antique Boutique

Why It's Good:

The charm of Molte Cose makes this vintage shop one of our favorites in this city. Once inside, you'll feel like you've stepped back to a time when you went treasure-hunting in your great aunt's house. Old-fashioned desks and vanities are piled high with antique jewels. Full-length gloves—think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's—line the drawers. Sepia-stained photographs are framed and displayed amongst Mary Janes and cloche hats. With such an abundance of great finds, you'll want to visit again and again.

Why It's Green:

Look good and feel good, because reusing clothing is a form of recycling. When you reuse clothing you do the environment a favor because reused clothing requires no new materials, fuel, or energies for manufacturing; virtually the only environmental cost you pay is shipping.

Where To Get It:

Visit Molte Cose at 2044 Polk Street in San Francisco; call 415-921-5374 for more information.
