Hotel, Oregon

Why It's Good:

This old school building is a hot spot where locals dine in the courtyard restaurant, drink local and seasonal ales in the Honors Bar (smoke-free, of course) or the tobacco-friendly Detention Room, and snuggle into easy chairs to watch movies in the auditorium. Eighteen former classrooms have been redesigned as cozy guest rooms—some even have blackboards.

Why It's Green:

The hotel is a recycled old school, and the beers served at the pubs are from McMenamins' earth-friendly breweries.
