Sexy Beast Shampoo and Conditioner

Like-you-just-stepped-out-of-a-salon hair is no longer the sole province of humans. The bounce, the shine, the silkiness…it can all be your dog's now, too.

Free of synthetics—most notably, the dread parabens—its organic ingredient list reads like a who's who of botanical superstars (gingko and green tea, among others).

It's one of my brother's favorite lines, and he breaks it out whenever he comes to town. "So you've really become one of those people?!" (Cue eye roll and mildly disgusted tone.) And by "those people," he means the countless New Yorkers who turn their dogs into surrogate babies. For all my protestations to the contrary, which hinge mostly on the fact that I've managed to resist buying little Maurice a Baby Bjorn (unlike other Maltese owners I know), my brother is right. And however shamelessly, I don't care. Neither does Maurice, who seems to have no idea that he's not a person. If he were a bit brighter, he might've been tipped off by the name of the new shampoo and conditioner I used on him last night: Sexy Beast. Nomenclature aside, there's little to suggest these aren't eco-posh human products. Among the other organic ingredients in this plant-based, 100% chemical and paraben-free line, the cranberry oil, chamomile flowers, green tea and gingko biloba gave Maurice a particularly immodest swagger after his bath. That, or he really had to pee. —Abbie Kozolchyk
