Why It's Green:
The makeup contains organic ingredients, which means they've been grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and it's free of petroleum products (non-renewable resources) and parabens (synthetic preservatives, which have been linked to breast cancer). The pretty metallic rose product packaging is biodegradable, and the outer boxes are made of a corn-based plastic and soy ink.

The Prettiest Eco Makeup We've Ever Seen
Everyone wants to be greener, but no one wants to give up glamour—especially women whose careers depend on it like Shalom Harlow, Daria Werbowy, and Josie Maran. So these three models have found a way to merge their love of beauty and makeup with their love of the planet and healthy ingredients. Shalom Harlow and Daria Werbowy have teamed up to help make Lancôme a little bit more eco, and Josie Maran has just launched a line of cosmetics so gorgeous you'd never guess it was environmentally-friendly. The packaging is a pretty pink metallic that feels so feminine—and so not crunchy—that we were shocked to learn it's biodegradable. The cosmetics (there are blushes, bronzers, eye shadow, eye liner, lip glosses, and more) come in a variety of lovely shades, creamy textures, and they're packed with natural ingredients such as beeswax, jojoba oil, and cocoa butter. But our favorite is the mascara, $20. We’ve long been on the hunt for a good green mascara and this one fits the bill—it contains none of the eye irritants or potentially toxic ingredients that most mascara contains, but it makes our lashes long and lush. We think this being green, yet staying glamorous thing is definitely model behavior worth following.
