here's something for greenies to be grateful for: thanksgiving feasts are inherently eco-friendly. when pilgrims celebrated their first turkey day back in 1621, they were taking part in a long tradition of harvest celebrations by native americans who paid respect to nature as they enjoyed the season's bounty. and to this day, the main ingredients to a traditional thanksgiving dinner – turkeys, pumpkins, cranberries, and potatoes – are all in season and often available locally (or can be imported from within the united states).
