red lips? smoky eyes? oh my! normally, makeup artists balk at the thought of high-drama lips and lids — but as former mean girl amanda seyfried proves, the combo can look fresh, pretty and summery. the key to the mamma mia! star's glowy look is "all about the texture," says new york city makeup artist matthew nigara. "it's light and luminous, not heavy and matte." read on for easy — and eco-friendly — instructions for recreating this red-carpet makeup look yourself.1. start with shadow anytime you're going for dramatic eyes, make this your first step. "that way, if any stray shadow falls under your eyes, you can wipe it away without disturbing the rest of your makeup," says nigara. you can use a flat, rounded eye shadow brush like urban decay's good karma shadow brush, $18. the man-made, vegan-friendly bristles are soft and luxurious, and allow you to sweep on shadow like a pro. use the brush to dust a soft brownish-plum shadow on upper and lower lids, then blend a rosy-apricot hue just above the crease.  2. lush up those lashes getting this huge fringe is easy to achieve without messy false lashes. simply curl your top lashes, then brush on two coats of korres deep colour mascara in black 01, $18. free of mineral oil and propylene glycol, the formula conditions and adds rich color. for this look, you'll want to apply the mascara to your bottom lashes, too. just turn the wand vertically and use the very tip to lightly brush it on. 3. get a rosy glow after applying a light layer of foundation to even out skin tone, blend tarte's full blossom all natural swirl cheek stain, $28, on the apples of your cheeks. to add texture on top of color, giving amanda her uniquely glow-y look, use a fan brush to dust a shimmery, soft-pink mineral powder right on top. "using a fan brush will give you a nice, light application of shimmer," nigara explains. "you don't want to be too heavy-handed." 4. pucker up there's a trick to applying red that'll ensure you get color that looks fresh and pretty, not clownish. first, use a berry-red lip pencil like dr. hauschka novum lipliner 06 ($16.95) to fill in your lips. color in your whole pout, don't just line the edges. blot with a tissue, then use your pinkie finger to pat on red lipstick. brands like josie maran, sukicolor and sante matte are nontoxic and lead-free.
