"people used to throw something away and not have to touch it or think about it anymore," she says. "now more thought goes into the lifetime use of an object." cheryl terrace, a "mindful" interior designer from manhattan, couldn't agree more: "go to the flea market. take a furniture piece from an aunt and put a coat of non-toxic paint on it. why would you send usable objects to the landfill? this isn't that hard."
