Woodsy Bond wallpaper

Ethereal grandeur marks these wallcoverings from the very hip and happening Woodsy Bond. Armed with a fine arts degree from Rutgers University, founder and designer Emily Van Genderen is a Jersey girl with a fresh eye for mixing nature with interiors.

The material the beautiful graphics are printed on is called JetTex and is put out by EverGreen Fabrics, and is PVC-, phosphate- and formaldehyde-free. The production process uses 50% less raw materials, 80% less energy and no volatile organic compounds are released in the air.

My mother loved bringing home those huge bound books with the handles, filled with wallpaper samples, and she would stack them on the dining room table for months. She loved wallpaper! My bedroom had that edgy, three-walls-one-style and one-wall-a-more-staid-stripe or –rosebud configuration. It was all about that not-so-subtle juxtaposition. Now it's time to admit that I inherited the wallcovering wanderlust: I could peruse wallpaper sites and books as another might ponder Proust. I was the first in line to be wowed by Cole and Son faux forest wallpaper. I also love the Florence Broadhurst Egrets paper. But I am especially wowed by the Woodsy Bond line. The paper is eco-friendly, it doesn't have any of those noxious chemical odors wallpaper usually emits, and its graphic reference to nature is more subtle.—Allison Reynolds

Note: Paper in the large picture is called Columbine. The top right paper is Queen Anne; middle is Tiger Lily; bottom, Nasturtium. All papers start at $10 per square feet. To view styles, go to www.woodsybond.com.
