I console myself about living in a tiny Manhattan studio (for townhouse dreams are insidious in this city) by saying that small means fewer, but better pieces of furniture. It means I can splurge on a very special item, because there is a definite limit to the number of items the apartment can hold. That's why I love this Bamboo Slide by Brave Space—it's like a kitchen extension (without the renovation costs!) and functional sideboard in one. If I'm entertaining, I can chop fresh crudité on the removable cutting board atop the sliding surface and replenish bottles of biodynamic vino from the built-in wine rack, all while chatting with my lovely guests who are politely eating and drinking with the least possible body movements. In my hostess-with-the-mostest fantasies, stashed inside the hidden cubbies would be "wow" refreshments, like, say, a tray of tiny bowls of individual cassoulets. The only thing that would make this more perfect would be rolling castors that brake.
