Tilapia Is Tops :

Unlike most farm-raised fish, which must eat other fish to grow, tilapia is an omnivore that can thrive on soy, corn, wheat, algae and plant waste. Plus, tilapia farms can be housed indoors where resulting wastewater and pollution are better controlled. Thirty thousand pounds of tilapia can be raised on just three acres annually — the same amount of space it takes to raise one 650-pound cow. — Slowfoodnation.org

H&M Spring 2008 organic cotton pieces

Why It's Good:

This spring, you'll be pulling these super-cute pink and white separates right off the racks. And what better place to do it than at an ultra-affordable H&M store.

Why It's Green:

All of the pieces seen here are made with cotton that's organically grown, meaning that the crops thrived without the use of toxic pesticides or fertilizers that do harm to the land they're raised on as well as the hands that harvest them. Fast, Fresh Eco-Fashion

Although the temps are a mere notch higher than last month (i.e. winter), we're all coming down with a serious case of spring fashion fever. I'm all for braving the still-chilly weather in just heels and a blazer (bottom right), like this trim white one, $49.90, from H&M. Wear buttoned up over your favorite denim (if you're bold enough to bare a bit of ankle, pair it with these slim capris (bottom left, $49.90) and kicky tangerine flats for a smart spring suit; and when the mercury really begins to rise, throw it on over the sweetest little pink slip dress ever (top right). At $16.90, with a pleated hem and embroidery details, it's the budget find of the season. Mix things up with a simple white vest (top left, $29.90)—worn with the capris and a high ponytail, it's boy-coy; with the dress and loose locks, boho-chic. Any way you wear these, the fresh palette and low prices will put you in the mood—so kiss winter goodbye, and viva la spring!—Elizabeth McMullen
