Hedonisia
Hawaii Hostel
Why It's Good:
Set in the lush tropical rainforest of East Hawaii, this hostel is close to the hippie town of Pahoa and a great Sunday Farmers Market where you'll find all the exotic local tropical fruits and local honey you can eat, plus vintage Aloha shirts, and local handmade crafts. You can check out the molten lava flows of the Kilauea Volcano, relax in the Kapoho Warm Ponds, or ditch your bikini and head over to the Kehena black sand beach, where clothing is "optional."
Why It's Green:
The hostel is made from recycled and renewable materials. Among other "rooms," there's The Jungle Bus, which is a converted school bus that accommodates 4 people, and The Bamboo Hut, which can house a couple on a romantic getaway. It even has an eco-friendly toilet, which has a beautiful view of the jungle.
