Mad for Plaid

If the thought of a plaid shirt instantly brings to mind lumberjacks, grunge music, or your grandpa, you're not alone. I think of the burly, muscled man smiling proudly on my paper towel roll wrapping. (He's a lumberjack, right?) And while he may be a hero swabbing spilled soda, I'd rather not dress like him. Which is why I did a double take when I came across this little number while window shopping on the web. While Forever 21 is no stranger to of-the-moment designs at shockingly good prices, this is its first foray into recycled clothes, transforming men's button downs into tops that shoppers will snatch up. It's the anti-plaid plaid shirt that shattered the stigma for me. The fitted cut, the scooped neck, the capped sleeves—dare I say it?—make for a delicately feminine, pretty piece. Pair it with white capri pants and fabulous cork wedges for a summer picnic. If someone asks you to pass the paper towels, it's sheer coincidence.
