Topstitch Boutique

Topstitch Boutique is the place in Philadelphia for one-of-a-kind, fun and flirty fashions at modest prices. One side of the small, second-floor store features vintage clothing, shoes, silk scarves and bags, and if you're there on a good day, even secondhand sunglasses (though these get snatched up quickly). A recent trip saw racks filled with lace slips and camisoles, a beautiful and billowy butterfly-sleeve top (all between $40 and $50) and a large selection of flat boots begging to be paired with skinny jeans or a flowery dress. On the other side of the shop, you'll find handmade clothing and accessories made by local Philadelphia designers and the boutique's owners. The no-fuss, daytime looks are totally wearable and reasonably priced (most items were under $100). Need a piece sized? Have it altered on-site for free.

Why should such cute clothing end up in the trash, where it will take years and years to biodegrade? Save it from the landfill by buying vintage. Shopping for local and handmade items also saves the fuel and energy that's required to ship and manufacture the goods of larger brands.
