Antiquarian’s Delight

This indoor flea market, set in an old synagogue, houses 25 separate vendor's shops. Several of the stores carry designer duds (including Dior) from decades past while others offer an amazing selection of costume jewelry, eye—catching eyewear, and crave-worthy clutches and evening bags. Toward the back of the first floor you'll find lots of 70s-era pieces in pristine condition—think sequined tunics with sparkle to spare, charming beaded cardigans, and Brady-Bunch-esque floral shirtdresses and polyester shifts. Savvy shoppers may even eye a Pucci scarf or an Oscar de la Renta dress. Prices start around $50, with several items going for much more. And from Friday to Sunday, stop by the Wilbur Vintage and Consignment "stall" in the basement, where Dan Wilbur stocks a delightful mix of designer (think Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson and Nan Duskin) and just well-designed tops, skirts and accessories in his cozy corner of the market.

Vintage shopping follows all of the green movement's major tenets by reducing the amount of resources that are used to create new clothing, reusing something that another has cast off, and recycling it so it stays out of the landfills.
