Keep the Jeep, Lose the Harley:

The average motorcycle pollutes ten times more per mile than a passenger car, light truck or SUV. Motorcycles may be twice as fuel-efficient as cars and emit less carbon dioxide, but according to the California Air Resources Board, they generate 10% of all smog-forming emissions.

Eugenia Kim's eco-friendly spring hat collection

Why It's Good:

Hats are back: From the runway to the red carpet, designers are topping off looks with face-framing, instant-style faves. With these new classics from fashion-world darling Eugenia Kim, you'll not only be turning heads, but protecting yourself from skin cancer, the rates of which look set to increase due to climate change.

Why It's Green:

The Jess (pictured, left) and the Max 7 (top, right) are made of hemp and paperstraw, and the Max (pictured here on Cameron Diaz, lower and middle right) is made of paperstraw with a braided hemp band. Hemp is a rapidly renewable resource—a fast-growing plant that uses little water and requires no toxic pesticides and fertilizer to thrive. In fact, researchers at the Stockholm Institute have found that hemp's ecological footprint is half that of cotton’s. Read more about ways in which hemp can help benefit the environment here.

Where To Get It:

Wear Hot Haute Hats Like Sex and the City's SJP

You've got a new handbag, sandals, and statement necklace—gorgeously versatile pieces to go with those soft organic cotton tees and bamboo dresses. So what's missing in your spring stellar-style kit? A hat. They're back, and in a big way. SJP crowned her latest achievement at the Sex and the City premiere with a Philip Treacy confection, bouncing butterflies and all. We love how head genius Eugenia Kim works her millinery magic with hemp, shaping the eco-fabulous fiber into the charming Jess, $325, the cosmo-Neapolitan Max 7, $300, and the downtown-chic Max with braided band, $265 (seen here on Cameron Diaz). Never worn a hat before? Don't be shy, be headstrong—a hot hat adds that extra shot of style, and a hatted woman has that kind of fierce panache that makes her—and her signature style—unforgettable: Think Audrey Hepburn’s ultra-chic portrait in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, or Gwen Stefani's sassy toppers. So go on, make your head a style priority—with just one look, they'll say, “Hat’s genius.”—Elizabeth McMullen
