Turn Off the Tap:

According to the EPA, the average bathroom faucet pumps out two gallons of water per minute. So if you typically brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes, you can save up to eight gallons of water daily by turning off the faucet.

Why It's Good:

It’s a slightly bizarre concept that’ll make for interesting conversation: an accessory sink that replaces the lid on your toilet, and is retrofitted to your toilet tank. It starts and stops automatically after each flush, pouring out clean tank water for hand-rinsing that then drains into your toilet bowl. So don’t think of it as washing your hands with toilet refuse. The water you get is sourced directly from the same water supply line that feeds your kitchen faucet.

Why It's Green:

Sink Positive minimizes the amount of water wasted by conventional bathroom sinks, giving you access to the clean water that drains unnoticed into your toilet bowl. It also can visually indicate a toilet leak, since the clean water will drip into the sink rather than the toilet. According to the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, a toilet leak can waste anywhere from tens of gallons of water a day to 1,000 gallons daily.
