Why It's Good:

With large grocery store chains like Whole Foods announcing that they are phasing out the plastic bag, tote bags are exploding on the market. While our favorites are still made out of organic cotton, we also find that with food, especially wet produce or anything that sweats or leaks, heavier-duty materials have their own virtues. This roomy poly tote has helpful side and inside pockets for cash, mobile and keys on quick grocery runs, and comes in a charming fire-engine red—less likely to get lost in a pile somewhere.

Why It's Green:

Anything that cuts down on the use of plastic grocery bags is eco-friendly. Those bags snagging on trees and whirling on sidewalks are only poetic in American Beauty and are nasty and landfill-clogging everywhere else.
