I thought I knew about every gorgeous green beauty product out there, but I was wrong. I accidentally stumbled upon the Duchess Marden line while surfing the Internet. Created by Marla Steuer—the name comes from Duchess, her grandmother's nickname for her, and a combination of her first and middle (Denise) names—the products are truly luxurious. I was immediately enamored of the design (which has a Moroccan feel) and the promise of good-for-me ingredients (for example, Japanese honeysuckle extract rather than a synthetic creation serves as preservative). I sampled the brand-new crème cleanser and found it to be just as good as it looked. Like all Duchess Marden products, the key ingredient is rose water, which Steuer fell in love with while traveling in Southeast Asia. Aside from its calming scent, rose is an anti-bacterial that purifies and tones the skin. It's also exceptionally hydrating, which means that the cleanser can double as an extra moisturizer for dry (and more mature) skin types.
