Why It's Good:

The Philo Apple Farm's hand-chopped chutneys — sweet and spicy condiments originally from South Asia — are made in copper pots in small batches. The company adds chunks of juicy figs and crunchy walnuts to a base made of organic sugar, salt, spices and apple cider vinegar produced on the family farm. Every jar is hand-bottled and -labeled. "It's the way your grandma would make it in her own kitchen," says farmer and owner Karen Bates.

Why It's Green:

The Philo Apple Farm uses biodynamic farming methods to produce the apples that become the base ingredient of its chutneys.
