One of the biggest surprises to come out of 2008's Democratic and Republican National Conventions? All the newsworthy fashion! With his lean frame and crisp, custom-made suits, two-time Men's Vogue cover model Barack Obama is clearly pulling ahead of John McCain in the presidential style race. And not since Jackie Kennedy Onassis rested her coiffed bob in the White House have we seen such a display of stylish looks gracing women in the political spotlight. From Michelle Obama's sleek, Camelot-inspired dresses to Cindy McCain's jewel-toned, budget-busting designer duds to Sarah Palin's Tina Fey glasses and red hot shoes, the ladies of the 2008 election have fashion chutzpah to spare.

So which of the three women has made the strongest impression on Bahar Shahpar, founder and principal designer of the eponymous eco fashion label? "At this point, it's a close call between Cindy and Michelle," Shahpar says. "Both potential First Ladies favor drama and feminine statements. But Cindy has definitely made questionable choices — some that could be described as garish." Says Deana Bracken, co-owner of online boutique GreenWithGlamour.com: "Michelle Obama is the clear fashion front-runner for me," she says. "Cindy McCain's approach to dressing is very safe without being chic. The pearls, the St. John suits, the French twist — we get it!"
