Why It's Good:

Vintage fashion magazines decorate the walls of this airy Toronto shop that boasts a collection of stunning pieces with simple lines and classic, slender designs. Wander the aisles and you'll find gingham sundresses from the 50s and chiffon tea dresses from the 30s situated among a host of other frocks by high-end designers like Balenciaga and Emilio Pucci. The knowledgeable clerks can eyeball your correct size, as most pieces were tailor-made decades ago. Non-Torontonians should visit the website, where owner Louise Cooper researches and carefully photographs each piece from multiple angles and writes descriptions to help you select your purchase.

Why It's Green:

Not only are vintage clothes great for the environment since zero greenhouse gases-emitting machinery is needed to generate new products, but because these clothes are reused, they don't contribute to landfills. And as far as we're concerned, nothing constructed with as much detail and delicate handiwork as the clothes sold from this shop should ever be thrown out.
