The Housewife-next-door adds some modern spice to a classic '40s silhouette.
Everyone's favorite housewife looked glamorous at American Idol's grand finale in Los Angeles last month. Hatcher rocked a simple, 40s secretary-inspired pencil skirt and paired it with a fitted sparkle top, using accessories to subtly spice it up.
You can't get more versatile than this simple satin sleeveless tunic for summer: Wear it with skinny jeans, wide-leg jeans, sailor-leg pants, pencil skirts, under a cardie or jacket. We just don't recommend it with a maxi-skirt, as having lots of length on both top and bottom will look weighty, i.e., long-long can be wrong-wrong.
This linen-y envelope clutch in black with the delicately designed clasp is so classic, no one will ever believe it's made out of hemp. No do-you-wear-it-or-smoke-it jokes, please. Wear it to add refinement or dressed-up vibe to your outfit.
A high-waisted silhouette projects feminine efficiency at the office and a flirty elegance outside of it. Best when worn with a high heel, a pencil skirt with a bloused-out top slims down hips, or exudes head-to-toe sleek with a fitted top or tunic, as Hatcher does here.
To give her clean style a little oomph, Hatcher loads up on her arm candy, with a watch, an ivory-colored cuff and a jeweled, chandelier bracelet. Here's our pick for the chandelier bracelet; the nice thing is every piece has a history because they're all refurbished vintage.
What punctuates Hatcher's secretary-chic style is the round toe of her shoe. A modern update on a 40s-era pump, Hatcher's slingbacks add polish, but a classic pump, such as Natalie Portman's here, is even more versatile, having you stepping out in style all year 'round.
