See Ya CFLs:

Recycle used CFLs at your local Home Depot, IKEA or check Earth911.org for drop-off locations in your zip code. If your state permits you to put used or broken CFLs in the garbage, seal the bulb in two plastic bags and put it in the outside trash. Don't incinerate, as CFLs contain a small amount of toxic mercury, an average of about 5 milligrams, which would get released into the air.

Why It's Good:

Beauty products made with fatty acids don't sound terribly glamorous. Yet our intrepid contributing beauty editor Megan O'Neill tried Sophyto's Mega Omegas Day Face Moisturizer, which is made with organic essential fatty acids, and found it to be super light and easy to top with makeup. For those who want to try Sophyto without paying $44, we recommend starting with this sample kit of skin cleansing, toning and hydrating essentials.

Why It's Green:

Not only are these products licensed by Vegan Society UK, which means they're cruelty-free, but each item in this kit is made from over 90% certified organic ingredients that haven't been treated with toxic pesticides, which can run off into water supplies that irrigate crops (i.e., the food we eat.)
