Why It's Good:

We've all heard of them — Segways generated a lot of press when they were first introduced in 2001, but who actually uses these to get around? Police officers, for one. Somewhat like a very intelligent, motorized foot scooter, these patient beasts could be another solid answer to our gas crisis. We like the machine's intuitive response to the slightest of motions. At up to 12.5 mph and a range of 24 miles per charge, the Segway isn't for speed-seekers, but as a leisure or touring vehicle, it's a nice ride.

Why It's Green:

Given that half of the 900 million daily US car trips by solo drivers are less than 5 miles in distance according to the EPA, getting from one place to another needn't mean adding more pollutants to our already hazy skies. According to Segway, riding one of its battery-powered wonders for a year would save a ton or more of CO2 from hitting the atmosphere.
