See Ya CFLs:

Recycle used CFLs at your local Home Depot, IKEA or check Earth911.org for drop-off locations in your zip code. If your state permits you to put used or broken CFLs in the garbage, seal the bulb in two plastic bags and put it in the outside trash. Don't incinerate, as CFLs contain a small amount of toxic mercury, an average of about 5 milligrams, which would get released into the air.

Why It's Good:

In addition to creating dishes that celebrate heirloom varietals of fruits and vegetables, chefs at this New York City restaurant embrace tools commonly found in your grandparents' day. Crème brûlée is burned with a salamander, an antique fireplace tool.

Why It's Green:

Savoy serves a seasonal menu featuring fresh fish, meats and produce from the region. Chef Peter Hoffman is also an activist and an educator. He spent 15 years on the Advisory Board of NYC Greenmarkets helping to develop standards that have been adopted by farmer's markets nationwide.
