Do the Locomotion:

Next time you travel, take the train. Trains consume less energy and produce less pollution per passenger mile than driving, boating, cruising or flying. Plus you get to relax (or write that novel you've been thinking about) as the world slides by your window.

Restaurant Nora

Why It's Good:

Located in Washington D.C., Nora's farm-fresh food and delicate preparations – sauces are pure reductions and never contain butter cream – are enjoyed by a following of health-conscious environmentalists and politicians, including former President Bill Clinton.

Why It's Green:

Restaurant Nora became the country's first Certified Organic restaurant in 1999, long before the term "sustainable agriculture" took up residence in the foodie lexicon. Herbs and fruit are grown in the restaurant's own garden and nearly everything on the menu comes from Certified Organic and biodynamic growers and producers.
