Tote That!:

Need a reason to use a reusable tote or bottle? You won't be contributing to an island, or gyre, of plastic garbage floating in the Pacific Ocean that weighs near 3.5 million tons and is twice the size of Texas. Plastic never decomposes, choking marine life and leaching chemicals into the ecosystem.

Getting a greener Gossip Girl

The cast of wildly popular show Gossip Girl (permissive, much?) are using their mega celebrity status with teens to promote a good cause. Video clips on the Free2BeGreen website of the CW (GG's network) feature the cast using reusable mugs and encouraging green practices like removing your name from mailing lists. So fetch. The videos and website are under a partnership with NRDC and Stop Global Warming orgs. Plastic water bottles are banned on the set – but let's be honest, never wearing the same thing twice can't be that good for the environment.
