Congestion causes city dwellers to drive 4.2 billion hours more and to purchase an extra 2.9 billion gallons of fuel costing $78 billion. Motor scooters get 70 miles to the gallon, reduce carbon emissions by 80%, and look pretty stylin', too. Or take the greenest option of all – public transportation.

Steal This Look: London Runway Spring 2009

Luella Bartley

It's the perfect time to resurrect those "I love it, but what do I wear it with?" pieces. Mismatched patterns and styles, such as those parading down Luella Bartley's runway, are an excellent reminder that fashion, as in life, should never be taken too seriously.

Just a few words of caution in this apparently lawless realm: First, proportion is key. It may seem like Nicole Farhi put everything but the kitchen sink into her fall looks, but she kept the silhouettes elegant and restrained. And second, confidence is the most essential element, so be sure to have fun!

Work of Art

On its own, this blue menagerie print dress by Mociun is a stunner. Pair it with burgundy tights, a faux leather jacket and a striped bag, and it's a masterpiece. Prints are the new blank canvas.

Smooth as Silk

This oh-so-adorable silk dress by Bahar Shahpar has many praise-worthy features, such as a cinched waist, a sweetheart neckline and crossed back straps. You could, however, throw a mustard-yellow cardigan over it and put a big bow in your hair (which was all over the London runways) to boost its catwalk-readiness factor.

Putting on the Ritz

This sophisticated striped waistcoat by Armour Sans Anguish will add a touch of Savile Row charm to your look. But why not go for broke and pair it with a watercolor print dress and add a bow tie for good measure? Slightly Mad Hatter-ish, but in a really good way.
