Ditch classic brown shadows and smoky eyes this season and experiment with lovely lavender like Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester at the CW Network's Upfront event, where they unveiled the new season, earlier this summer. Plum shades will flatter just about any skin tone and eye color, but especially enhance brown eyes like Meester's. Jen Gaum, the International Makeup Artist for Glo Minerals reveals how to match the Queen Bee's look using eco products.
To get eyes that glisten like Meester's, Gaum says to cover the entire eye area from lash line to the brow bone with a shimmering light purple mineral formula like Glo Minerals gloEye Shadow, in Lilac, $18. Then add depth with a darker color like their Eggplant shade. Use a contour brush to apply it to the outer corner of the eye, blending it in ¾ of the way across the lid.
Accentuate your eyes with a black pencil like natural Lavera Eyeliner, $15. Keep the line as close to the lashes as possible, starting at the outer edge and going around the lash line to the inner corner. Soften the effect by smudging along your top lash line. Then to add an extra feminine halo effect, Gaum says to lightly dust the lilac shadow in the inner corner of your eye, dragging it across the lower lash line like eyeliner.
