Kate Winslet's Country Home in The Holiday

We loved the romantic English country home interior in the movie (maybe more than the movie).

Romantic English country style interiors have us at "Hello" (think Beatrix Potter). Director Nancy Myer (known for directing the movie Something's Gotta Give) has a sharp eye for stylish sets like this cozy living room featured in her film, The Holiday. Here are totally eco versions of the movie's antique-y and old English furniture and accessories, to help you recreate the lived-in charm of a classic country dream cottage.

Elegant Illumination

The urn-shaped base takes an old-world silhouette derived from classical Ancient Greece, and makes it hip and a little retro in wicker.

Traditional Tufted Seat

An ottoman boasts versatility for use as both plush extra seating and generously-scaled coffee table. Classic elements like tufting and nail heads embellish the classic English-style statement piece.

Country Is About Comfort

Create the look of an inviting and cozy English country living room (maybe like the one in a thatched-roof cottage in the Cotswolds) with casually tossed throw pillows like these Indian-printed cotton pillows, in a mix of patterns and sizes.

Add Extra Soft Lighting

Candle lanterns will enrich a room's atmosphere even when not lit. For a relaxing and rustic living space, simple candleholders can also hold, for added decorative flair, extra embellishments like ornaments, seashells or stones.

Never Enough Florals

Lean garden-inspired art on top of stacks of books, a mantle or even the floor to showcase a passion for art and objects. Leaning pictures instead of hanging them also encourages you to easily move them around as you please.

Mix and Match Prints

Used for pillows, curtains or upholstery, fabric with a well-worn looking, muted palette and organic print helps create an inviting and relaxed interior. In an English country setting, it looks right at home  set amongst a jumble of cozy antiques and accessories.

Unclutter Your Country Look

Extra storage in small spaces helps manage  clutter that can come with collecting country decor and objects. With wicker baskets, you can show less mess and more charm.
