Endangered Species Chocolates

Why They're Good:

Animal conservation efforts are the main attraction with Endangered Species' bars; the smooth dark chocolate and healthy ingredients like protein-packed goldenberry and lucuma or antioxidant-rich goji berry and pecan are the happily delicious fringe benefits.

Why They're Green:

Each bar of certified-organic chocolate features a brightly colored image of an endangered animal (Spider Monkey, Toucan, Tree Frog, Lion, Sea Otter and Karner Blue Butterfly, to name a few) the company — and you — supports through its widespread conservation efforts. 10% of net profits go toward helping "species, habitat and humanity," with donations to such organizations as Chimp Haven and The Ocean Conservancy.

The company is also involved with economic development programs in Nigeria, where it sources its cacao, ensuring that the crop is ethically traded and harvested by fairly paid adult workers and that local profits go back into the community. Note: All bars are gluten-free; dark bars are certified vegan.
