Aveda
Vintage Clove shampoo
Why It's Good:
First introduced in 1978, Aveda's Vintage Clove shampoo is seeing a great green revival with a huge recycling drive and limited edition retro packaging. The new formulation contains Certified Organic clove and coffee to kick up shine and enhance brunette hair, and the sweet, cinnamon-like smell comes form Certified Organic lemon, ylang ylang, black pepper, and other botanicals.
Why It's Green:
Aveda's Caps Recycling Program has everyone from college students to employees collecting old plastic bottle caps to turn into new ones for these bottles, which are made of 96% post-consumer recycled content. Aveda uses renewable, sustainable, and/or organic, plant-based ingredients in its products, which are petroleum-free. The company purchases wind power to supply its primary manufacturing facility and is involved in economic development programs in the local communities where key ingredients are sourced.
