Painted Glory

A vibrantly painted Queen Anne Victorian stands like a shining jewel amongst tall, shady trees and immaculate landscaping in Portland, Oregon's North Mississippi neighborhood. Known as the 1899 House, the home was nearly destroyed by a disastrous fire started by a tenant's smoldering cigarette. Owners Jen and Eric Miller called upon Anne De Wolf of Arciform, a local green-remodeling company, to return their beloved 109-year-old home to its original glory using eco-friendly materials.

Like a phoenix raised from its ashes, the 1899 House now sports an eclectic summer palette of medium green, purple, gold and brick red. All interior and exterior paints are low-Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) from the Miller Paint Company (no relation to owners) that keep toxic off-gassing to a minimum.
